Huh, what kind of attractions do we have in Singapore besides the zoo, bird park, and museums? We are a city leh.

For some of you, you might have similar thoughts, or have ever heard of such remarks from the people around you. In the past 1.5 years, I have discovered that there are actually many hidden local attraction gems out there waiting to be discovered (and written about!). I find that local attractions are highly underrated, not spoken about much enough, and I even as a Singaporean, may not know about the existence of many of them (until I take the effort to hunt them down).

Never in my mind had I thought or have interest to explore the local attractions in and around Singapore, until after I returned after 2 years of working abroad. Somehow my parents had gotten into the mode of visiting nature parks (the seniors forward many Whatsapp messages to each other), and I took it as an opportunity to spend more time with them on such trips.

The Japanese Cemetery Park in this article is one fine example. Every Sunday since I was born, I attend a church a walk down the very same road from this…
